Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. Security Logs

The IP address of visitors, user ID of logged in users, and username of login attempts are conditionally logged to check for malicious activity and to protect the site from specific kinds of attacks. Examples of conditions when logging occurs include login attempts, log out requests, requests for suspicious URLs, changes to site content, and password updates. This information is retained for 7 days. This site is scanned for potential malware and vulnerabilities by the iThemes Site Scanner. We do not send personal information to the scanner; however, the scanner could find personal information posted publicly (such as in comments) during the scan.

Events Calendar

Through the usage of The Events Calendar, information may be collected and stored within the website’s database. The Events Calendar does not send any user data outside of the website. Currently, we do not collect personally identifiable data through the events calendar.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. We employ technical professionals to help maintain and update the website. These professionals have access to data provided by you through contact forms/comments. They follow our privacy policies. We do not sell your data to anyone. When running Security Check, ithemes.com will be contacted as part of a process to determine if the site supports TLS/SSL requests. No personal data is sent to ithemes.com as part of this process. At the end of any YouTube videos, you will be shown thumbnails of other videos on our YouTube channel.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. If you fill out a contact form, the form data and your IP address are retained indefinitely. For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Security logs are retained for 7 days.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments or contact form submissions, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. This site is part of a network of sites that protect against distributed brute force attacks. To enable this protection, the IP address of visitors attempting to log into the site is shared with a service provided by ithemes.com. How we protect your data

The website utilizes iThemes Security to protect the website against unauthorized access. We also limit access to sensitive data to only those with ownership or technical duties. We also utilize SSL encryption for added security. Data is stored securely on a VPN hosted with Liquid Web. Please review their privacy policy here.
